Job Summary

The Dispensary Technician supports the efficient operation of the dispensary by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, labeling, and management of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role ensures accurate medication handling, proper record keeping, inventory management, and excellent customer service to patients and healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities

* Receive and process prescriptions from patients and healthcare providers.
* Prepare and dispense medications.
* Label medications accurately and provide basic usage instructions to patients.
* Maintain proper storage and handling of drugs and medical supplies.
* Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management and stock taking.
* Check expiry dates and remove expired or damaged medications from shelves.
* Maintain accurate dispensing records and documentation.
* Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dispensary.
* Assist in procurement and receiving of pharmaceutical supplies.
* Support compliance with pharmacy regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
* Attend to customer inquiries professionally and escalate technical issues to the pharmacist.
* Assist with cash handling and billing where applicable.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Medicine Counter Assistant Certificate, or Diploma in Dispensing Technology, Pharmacy Technology, or related field.
* Valid professional certification/licensing where applicable.
* Previous experience in a pharmacy, hospital, or clinic setting is an advantage.
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication handling procedures.
* Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy management systems.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism.
