Location: Kasoa, Central Region, Ghana
Position: Accountant
Reports To: School Director/Administrator
Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for managing the school’s financial records, preparing reports, monitoring budgets, handling payroll, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and supporting the overall financial health of the school. The role requires accuracy, integrity, and strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
* Manage daily accounting transactions and bookkeeping activities.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Monitor school income, expenses, and cash flow.
* Handle school fee reconciliation and track outstanding payments.
* Prepare payroll and ensure timely payment of staff salaries.
* Process payments to suppliers and service providers.
* Maintain petty cash records and perform regular reconciliations.
* Ensure compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), SSNIT, and other statutory requirements.
* Prepare and file tax returns, SSNIT contributions, and other statutory deductions.
* Assist management in budgeting and financial planning.
* Support internal and external audits.
* Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
* Provide financial advice and recommendations to management when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
* HND, Degree, or Professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a school environment.
* Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
* Good understanding of Ghanaian tax laws and statutory compliance.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills.
* High level of integrity and attention to detail.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions
* Full-time position based in Kasoa.
* May occasionally work beyond regular hours during audits or reporting periods.
Salary
* Net salary: GHS 2,000 per month.
