Job Title: Mathematics & Science Teacher (JHS)
Location: Kasoa Nurses
Reports To: Headteacher / Academic Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Mathematics and Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and practical lessons that build students’ numeracy, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry skills. The role involves preparing students for academic excellence while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong foundation in STEM.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver effective lessons in Mathematics and Integrated Science in line with the national curriculum.
Prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, and instructional materials.
Use practical demonstrations, experiments, and real-life applications to enhance understanding.
Incorporate technology and interactive teaching methods where possible.

2. Student Development
Build students’ confidence in solving mathematical and scientific problems.
Encourage curiosity, innovation, and analytical thinking.
Provide extra support to struggling learners and challenge high-performing students.

3. Assessment & Evaluation
Set and mark classwork, homework, tests, and examinations.
Monitor and evaluate student performance regularly.
Provide constructive feedback and implement improvement strategies.
Prepare students for internal assessments and external exams (e.g., BECE).

4. Classroom & Laboratory Management
Maintain a safe, organized, and conducive learning environment.
Supervise students during science practicals and ensure safety procedures are followed.
Manage teaching resources, laboratory equipment, and materials effectively.

5. Co-curricular Activities
Organize and support STEM-related activities such as quizzes, science fairs, and math competitions.
Participate in school programs, clubs, and academic events.

6. Record Keeping & Reporting
Keep accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
Prepare academic reports and communicate with parents/guardians when necessary.

7. Professional Development
Attend workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
Stay updated with modern teaching techniques and curriculum changes.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification/licensure (e.g., Ghana Education Service).
Minimum of 1–3 years teaching experience at JHS level (preferred).
Strong knowledge of the Ghanaian curriculum.
