Mathematics & Science Teacher – Upper Primary

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified Mathematics & Science Teacher to teach pupils at the Upper Primary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, helping pupils develop strong foundational knowledge in Mathematics and Science, and creating a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver effective Mathematics and Science lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum. •
2. Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, exercises, assignments, and assessments.
3. Teach mathematical concepts in a simple and practical manner appropriate for Upper Primary pupils. •
4. Develop pupils’ understanding of basic scientific concepts through practical activities, demonstrations, and experiments.
5. Assess pupils’ academic performance through class exercises, tests, examinations, and continuous assessment.
6. Identify pupils who require additional academic support and provide appropriate assistance.
7. Maintain accurate records of pupils’ attendance, performance, and academic progress.
8. Encourage pupils to develop problem-solving, analytical, creative, and criticalthinking skills.
9. Maintain good classroom discipline and create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
10. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding pupils’ academic progress and areas requiring improvement.
11. Participate in staff meetings, school activities, educational programes, and extracurricular activities.
12. Work collaboratively with other teachers and school management to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
13. Perform other teaching and academic duties assigned by the Headteacher.

Requirements & Qualifications
1. Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.

2. A professional teaching qualification such as Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or equivalent is preferred.

3. Relevant teaching experience at the Upper Primary level will be an advantage.

4. Good knowledge of the Ghanaian basic school curriculum.

5. Strong communication and classroom-management skills.

6. Ability to use creative and practical teaching methods.

7. Good computer literacy and ability to use technology in teaching will be an advantage.

8. Must demonstrate patience, professionalism, responsibility, and a genuine interest in children’s education.
